CLAN 123 - One charity, with two years to raise £3 million.
CLAN's challenge over the next two years is to raise £3,000,000 to build a new Cancer Support Centre.
In 2003, CLAN welcomed 7,500 client visits to CLAN House and by last year this increased to 13,481. CLAN’s board and staff agreed that to provide cancer support for all in the decades to come, CLAN needed a new fit-for-purpose facility - a New CLAN House and CLAN Haven.
The new home will ensure:
So, what will the New CLAN House look like? How is it put together? How will it work?
As work progresses CLAN will be able to show you more and more of their plans for the new Centre. The Centre will be designed to be energy efficient, to be open, airy and, of course, welcoming.
CLAN is a charity for anyone affected by cancer. From diagnosis onwards, CLAN’s services are available to anyone at any age, whether affected personally, a relative, carer or close friend.
CLAN Haven offers accommodation to those living in the outlying areas, including Shetland, attending Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment or accompanying a relative or friend.
CLAN Haven offers affordable bed and breakfast accommodation in bright and comfortable rooms, staffed by housekeepers overnight for help and support.
In 1995, CLAN had to find new premises and the former Rosemount Church was purchased. The Buy-a-Brick appeal was launched and through the generosity of the people of the North East, Orkney and Shetland the renovation work commenced and CLAN House was opened in 1996.
CLAN Haven was completed in 2002 and is located in what was the church hall.
Over the years CLAN has greatly increased its range of help, support services and therapies to meet the needs of people affected by cancer. A registered charity, CLAN is also a company limited by guarantee and managed by a Board of Directors.
Today the Centre’s team consists of administration staff, therapists, counsellors and trained volunteers.
